Michigan Quarter Horse Association

Thank you designers, judges, models and spectators for making this year’s fashion show such a great success.  Three designers participated, Chris’ Custom Creations, Totally Outfitted and Winning Edge Concepts, to display their lines. 24 outfits were modeled by 16 beautiful women and escorted on and off the stage by two handsome Lenhart men. 28 judges determined the winning designer with 23 votes going to Renee′ Holstege of Totally Outfitted and 5 votes going to Colleen Malburg of Winning Edge Concepts. 

The competition was not only a vote for the favorite designer, but also for the favorite outfit. The judges had to judge the designers on innovation, creativity, class appropriateness and cutting edge style.  The favorite outfit didn’t have to be created by the judge’s favorite designer.

Shelby Lenhart’s walk trot outfit, created by Winning Edge Concepts, won the favorite outfit with 6 votes. Shelby’s jacket was a white, black and pink pleasure jacket with hundreds of pink and black crystals to accentuate the black leather stripes and the pink scrolls and flowers. The second favorite outfit was a red showmanship outfit also by created by Winning Edge Concepts.

The event was MC’ed by Kelly Chapman who did an outstanding job. She even succeeded at seeking the opinions of our male judges, Tom Robertson, Bob Daniels, Joe McCrumb, Brady Zomer and Dr. Ken Main.  All the men judges voted unanimously for Renee Holstege.  Looks like they not only have great taste in their horses but in fashion too!!   

All the judge’s cards were tallied to determine the winning designer. Of the judges who voted for Totally Outfitted, one was selected to win a $100 gift certificate towards a custom made outfit by Renee Holstege.  Shelby drew Tammy Drake, of Marine City, as the winning judge.    

We are already in the process of planning the 2^nd Annual MQHA Project Runway.  There are 6 designers lined up to demonstrate their latest fashion line.  We will also be spotlighting Renee’s creation for our 2009 wining judge, Tammy Drake, during the 2010 fashion show.  Be sure to visit the MQ website periodically for updates on the exact date and time of the 2010 fashion show.  You won’t want to miss your opportunity to win a $100 gift certificate towards a custom made outfit by the 2010 winning designer.
